Groups of ten or more people must schedule an appointment. A complimentary 45-minute tour with an educator shall be provided free of charge pending availability. Large groups may be divided into sections of fewer than 30 people in order to comply with New York City Fire Department regulations. To arrange a group visit, click here and please fill out the Group Visit Application. Group visits will not be allowed without a confirmation notice from the Education Department. You will be asked to show your group visit confirmation upon your arrival. For cancellations please call us at least 24 hours in advance. Please allow approximately one hour for your visit, unless other arrangements have been confirmed by the Education Department. Please be advised that several groups may be scheduled on the same day. Please organize your group before entering. Because the museum lobby has a limited capacity, and to observe New York City Fire Department regulations groups arriving outside of their scheduled time may be asked to wait outside or be rescheduled. Our expansion plans include 100% wheelchair accessibility, but at present handicapped access is extremely limited. Please contact us at 212-926-2234, ext. 209, to discuss any accommodations we may provide to address your special needs. School groups: Groups of students must be accompanied by at least one chaperone per 10 students. Very young students may necessitate more chaperones. Please inform students that the museum has an extensive collection of antique furniture that should be treated as any other museum object and may not be touched. Chewing gum is not permitted in the galleries. The museum regrets that it has no cafeteria or lunch area. Groups are always welcome to eat bagged lunches outdoors on Audubon Terrace, but may not sit or play on the balustrade or sculptures. Help us keep the terrace clean by taking your waste with you. Limited coat checking is available. Large bags and coats may not be carried in the museum galleries. Group leaders must supervise any necessary checking of coats, umbrellas, books, and lunches. If internet access is not available, reservations can also be made over the phone at 212-926-2234, ext. 209.
